Mallacoota and District, Anniversary Commemoration Survey

Dear MADRA Members,

2020 has certainly been a challenging year.

As it draws to a close, we come to the first anniversary of the devastating bushfire that our community faced.

We recognize that within the community there are a multitude of emotions and opinions about how this anniversary could be commemorated. Due to the restrictions of Covid-19 MADRA has been unable to conduct community consultation in the ways we would have liked, but we would appreciate your feedback into creating a series of anniversary events that are meaningful to those who choose to engage with them.

In any anniversary event we seek to reflect on the events and emotions that we faced with the fire, to recall the year that has passed and the growth and changes that have occurred, and to reinforce a communal hope for the future.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the following survey by CLICKING HERE or visiting the pharmacy or hub for a hard copy. ALL responses are submitted anonymously and adhere to MADRAs privacy policy (copyright 2020) . For those who wish to assist with planning there is the opportunity to provide your email address within the survey.

In thinking about the meaning of, and purpose for an anniversary event some people may find it helpful to watch Dr Rob Gordon speak about the importance of anniversary events on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmju_D54F_A

We recognise that thinking about the anniversary may consider trauma for some in the community. Support is available by contacting the Royal Flying Doctors Bushfire Support on 1800 001 068.
