General members:

The new committee is looking forward to building on the achievements and hard work of the previous two MADRA committees.
Telecommunications Update
MADRA has recently received an update from Telstra:
The Mallacoota project involves a large transmission upgrade to support the upgrade to 4G. This is a complex project involving large infrastructure works at Morwell, Nowa Nowa, Orbost, Cabbage Tree Creek, Maramingo Hill, Donalds Knob, and Mallacoota. Additionally, integration with the RCP-funded project for a new mobile service at Gipsy Point is also required. Multiples delays have been caused by COVID and other complexities and issues, and Telstra is doing its best to get the work completed in the shortest time possible. The current plan is to have this project completed by mid-2023.
To support Mallacoota residents in the meantime, a smaller upgrade to the existing infrastructure will be done to improve capacity over the summer period. Telstra acknowledges that without the large transmission upgrade, there will be some impacts on the mobile network over the summer period; however, the smaller upgrade should provide a 30% increase in capacity to the Mallacoota mobile network.
Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop
A Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop is being held at the Genoa Hall on Sunday 28 August, 10.00am – 2.00pm. This free workshop is open to everyone in Mallacoota and District and provides a chance to come together and learn about fruit tree grafting and care, and then take home your grafted tree.
To book your place at the workshop, please contact Tanya De Geus by ph: 0438 538 586 or email: genoa.public.hall@gmail.com
