Merry Christmas from MADRA!
Merry Christmas from MADRA!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the MADRA committee, and best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.
The committee will be taking a break over January and will reconvene in early February. Our admin support will also be taking annual leave over new year and also later in January, so please note there may be some delays in our email responses until we are all back on deck in February.
Mallacoota and District - Projects and Initiatives update
CLICK HERE to see the status (to October 2024) of the recovery projects and initiatives that have received MADRA support so far. This support has included advocacy emails, letters, meetings and discussions; letters of support; funding support; committee participation or MADRA planning and organisation.
This list is a real team effort. Many people have worked very hard on the recovery of Mallacoota and District – particularly local volunteer organisations, clubs and charities, along with government and non-government agencies and our politicians. The efforts of these groups, combined with MADRA’s advocacy and support for numerous recovery initiatives, have brought about great progress in our district's recovery projects. Together, we have been able to shape our recovery in line with our priorities, preferences, local knowledge and – most importantly – our values. Five years on, while our recovery is by no means complete, we have come a long way. As a community, we can be proud.
Happy Changemakers Final Report

The Mallacoota and District Recovery Association Inc (MADRA) Phase 2 Strategic Planning and Linkages Project aimed to engage with the Mallacoota and District community to:
Understand whether and how best to transition MADRA from being a community recovery committee (formed as a result of the 19/20 Black Summer Bushfires) into becoming an ongoing community representative group, able to meet the current and future needs of the Mallacoota district communities
If MADRA is to continue, support the committee, association members and broader community to understand all the legal, governance, operational and structural considerations and carefully design and implement this transition
Streamline MADRA’s current governance and decision-making processes in preparation for the transition and to improve these elements in the interim for the current committee.
